The SS18 Edit - Ultima
This season, Ultima explores vintage glamour in a mix of woven jacquards and fabric manipulations. Drawing inspiration from classic art genres, the designs use exaggerated scales to create drama while subtle and lustrous colours exude sophistication and elegance.
The neo-classical aesthetic combines luxury and opulence with vintage charm. Cordelia Pearl’s classic composition embraces the order, balance and restraint of this elegant genre. Large, stylised motifs are woven in lustrous shades of pearl, silver and black against a matt ground. The tonal palette is subtle and sophisticated, embellished with touches of metallic thread. Edges are neatly tailored with cord piping in black.
Dress with Cordelia’s reversible European pillowcases and square cushion featuring a plush velvet backing for multiple styling options. We rounded out this look with some bold, black accessories including the diagonal pleats of Kaleidoscope Black, the soft velvet gathers of Tempo Black round cushion and the luxurious faux fur of Baxter Black throw.
Lawrence Sterling makes a grand statement in the master bedroom. Pattern plays the protagonist in this dramatic look, referencing the exuberance and opulence of the Baroque movement. Italianesque in style, fluent contours and shapes are fashioned into elaborate motifs, their detail accentuated by the exaggerated scale. The tonal silver-on-silver palette is a nod to chiaroscuro, the interplay between light and dark, which creates contrast and adds to the drama.
We created some height with Lawrence’s co-ordinating European pillowcases then layered in an eclectic mix of textures including the linear pintucks of Balmoral White square cushion, the velvet gathers of Tempo Silver round cushion and the sparkling sequins of Tivoli Silver brunch cushion.
Lena is a tonal silver-on-silver story, imbued with elegance. A centre panel of floral damask motifs are woven with metallic silver thread to reflect light and give a touch of shimmer. The side panels in slub-silk feature diamond pinch pleats and decorative rope cord in silver.
Lena’s co-ordinating accessories include a long cushion and reversible European pillowcase for multiple styling options. Complete the look with Tempo Silver round cushion, Raffles White square cushion and Tivoli Silver sequin brunch cushion.
There’s an emerging interior trend best described as ‘Comfortable-Modern-Traditional’. Essentially, it’s the blending of classic and contemporary elements to create a brand new look. Riviera Denim combines traditional design with luxe texture and an up-to-date palette. Large scale, stylised floral motifs are woven into a white ground, the soft downy texture a result of clever weaving techniques. Calming denim blue exudes a relaxed ambience.
The European pillowcase features the principal pattern in transposed colours with a diagonal check pattern on the reverse for different styling options. A co-ordinating decorator cushion is also available. Simple white accessories bolster the look and complement Riviera’s multiple patterns.
